Luis Ruuska leads NDIGD's communication and outreach efforts and works to highlight the work of researchers, students, fellows, and faculty associated with NDIGD through a variety of digital and print mediums. He is NDIGD's communications liaison to Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs and its seven academic units, as well as Notre Dame Research and other communications units on campus, such as the Office of Public Affairs and Communications and the Department of Development.
Prior to joining NDIGD, Ruuska was a public relations assistant / communications specialist at the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he served in a similar role to his current role on a two-person communications team. He aided in a complete overhaul of the college's communications efforts, which included creating a new website and implementing new and successful social media and video strategies.
Before and as an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, and later the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Ruuska interned, worked part-time, or volunteered for a variety of organizations including Full Media, The Minnesota Daily, the University of Minnesota’s Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, WUTK-FM, The Huffington Post, and the League of Women Voters of Knoxville and Knox County.
Ruuska holds a bachelor's in communication studies from the University of Tennessee with a minor in journalism and electronic media.
