Associate Director, Entrepreneurship and Education Programs and Keough School Concurrent Assistant Professor of the Practice
Melissa Paulsen leads NDIGD's Entrepreneurship and Education Division, working with faculty to develop interdisciplinary approaches to education and training programs related to global development needs. Additional programs include fellowship and research opportunities for Notre Dame graduate and undergraduate students, as well as collaborative institutes that host international students, entrepreneurs, and leaders at the University.
Most recently Paulsen was an assistant director at the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurship in the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame. She served as director for the Center’s social entrepreneurship program and was concurrent assistant professional faculty in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Recent courses taught include Social Innovation, Social Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise Consulting, Microventure Consulting, and Entrepreneurship in Developing Countries; she also leads numerous workshops involving social and traditional entrepreneurship. Paulsen has managed experiential and service-learning programs in South Africa, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda and Guatemala, among others.
Paulsen holds a master’s degree in nonprofit administration from the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame, and a bachelor's in English and philosophy from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.
