Catholic Peacebuilding Network

Country: Colombia, the Great Lakes region of Africa, and the Philippines Date Range: 2004-Present Project Lead: Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies

The Catholic Peacebuilding Network (CPN) is a voluntary network of practitioners, academics, clergy, and laity from around the world that seeks to enhance the study and practice of Catholic peacebuilding, especially at the local level. Through the CPN, Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies works closely with Catholic Church agencies, educational institutions and lay networks in dozens of countries. CPN activities are concentrated in Colombia, the Great Lakes region of Africa, and in the Philippines (focusing on the conflict in Mindanao). In these and other countries, CPN often works closely with Catholic Relief Services (CRS). CPN provides training and policy analysis to support local Church leaders and institutions as they address humanitarian and development issues and seek to ameliorate and prevent armed conflict.
