Digitizing Materials in Global Catholic Peacebuilding

Date Range: 2013-Present Project Lead: Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies Notre Dame Collaborators: Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies

The Catholic Peacebuilding Network makes hundreds of hard-to-find, primary-source texts related to peacebuilding freely and publicly available through cpn.nd.edu and through the Catholic Portal, a digital research library created through the collaboration of dozens of Catholic libraries and archives. While the project will include texts from Catholic organizations of all kinds, the current phase focuses on primary sources from bishops' conferences, especially those in conflict regions where the Catholic Church is a significant civil society institution. These documents are of interest for the application of Catholic Social Teaching, the role of religion in conflict and peacebuilding, the increasingly global constitution of Christianity, global politics, and more. This project is conducted in collaboration with Notre Dame’s Hesburgh Libraries and the Catholic Research Resources Alliance.
