Country: Colombia Date Range: 2010 Project Lead: Center for Civil & Human Rights Notre Dame Collaborators: The Law School

The Center for Civil and Human Rights co-sponsored the 2010 Francisco Suárez S.J. Moot Court Competition on International Law and Human Rights. The competition was held at the Francisco Suárez S.J. Center for the Study of International Law at the School of Juridical Sciences of the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia from October 25 through October 29, 2010. Begun in 2004, this regional competition originated as an effort to contribute to the well-rounded education of lawyers from Jesuit universities throughout Latin America. Its prestige, however, has extended well beyond the Jesuit and other Catholic universities of the region and it now serves a formative role in the education of the future human rights lawyers of Latin America. In 2009 the competition earned the recognition of the Organization of American States (OAS) for its importance in the promotion of human rights in the region.
